Tainted Water Crisis

Just recently in class,I read an article about how rising sea levels can destruct floods and can sink islands.This incident also threaten freshwater supplies in coastal communities around the world.The story begins like this....

As global temperature are melting land ice and ocean waters, sea levels are also rising.The worry is, salt water is contaminating freshwater.People living near the sea suffer because if salt water continue to flow into freshwater rivers, they will not have enough supplies.Without freshwater flowing through the rivers, humans,crops and animals too can suffer,which means there will be many hungry stomachs. Thailand, Israel, China, Bangladesh,Vietnam and the United States have report problems caused by the saltwater.Since 1992,the increase is 3mm per year.The prediction is not clear but the Intergovermental Panel believes that this century it will rise 9mm to 88cm.Ocean circulation,wind pressure patterns,tides and strom can also affect the water level rise in the oceans.Greenhouse gas emission are one big factor because if it is reduce,we can reduce the rate of air temperature that are increasing,by that,the rise in sea levels will eventually slow down.

Jakarta Flood Misery.......

Millions of people in Jakarta are living in sububrs(an area on the edge of a large town or city where people who work in the town or city often live)outside the city.Jakarta's residents are at risk every year from floods when monsoon season.In February, 70 per cent of Jakarta was flooded.The riverbanks burst and sends muddy water along streets.When the water level rise people were forced out of their home, some even died from drowning and diseases.Few weeks after, more people suffered illnesses like diarrhoea, dengue and respiratory problems.A month after the disaster, authorities estimated the economic loss which was around 5.2 trillion rupiah(S$884 million).In 2002 the disaster came again when 21 lives were lost. Excessive logging and illegal building have covered drainage areas and destroyed green field sites that used to soak up excess water.It was made more worse by clogged sewage pipes and waterways heaped with rubbish and environmentalists warn that it will not simply disappear.Global warming has led to higher temperatures. As warm air carries more moisture we can expect water-rich air moving over land to create intense storms. Scientists point out that climate change is affecting rainforest like the Amazonian and Indonesian rainforest.Nobody is sure why this happen and Jakarta have to take steps to prevent it or else flood will continue to fill the city with LOTS of water.

If I have a million dollars........

If I have a million dollars I will (1)give some to my parents (2)save for my studies in the future (3)give to charity.Why will I give this to the above.For no. 1: of course I will give to my parents because they have take care of me for a long time.For no. 2: Surely I will save some of my money for studies because I can have enough money to support me to go to any university.(like real)For the last one:I will give some to charity because Iam so kind.(like real ).......

Do I feel that I grown up and become more mature?Why?

I feel that I've grown up because I don't do such things that I do when I was small ex.tearing paper,making my room in a mess(and get scolded),play with dolls and much much more.By the way NO offence on those who still do any of the above.PEACE!! Well now I can cook some simple dishes like butter prawn,garlic prawn and doing some saute(fry things ex:onions and garlic in oil)But some of course I still need a little of my mother help like pouring the oil.My mother will also stand behind or beside me to kinda watch me :) With all of this I feel that I am mature.But of course I don't know how other people feel about me being mature.Hope they do think that I'm mature because I feel that I;m mature myself.
